Are you ready to migrate to your next generation platform?

Are your applications compatible with your next generation platform?

This is a question many organizations are asking themselves today, and subsequently they are looking for solutions to overcome application incompatibility, simplify application management and increase insight to make the right business decision about application migration, whilst genuinely realizing a return to the business.

We as a trusted advisor in virtualization see many organizations thinking about different, more optimized application delivery strategies. Virtualizing data (storage), servers, sessions, applications and user settings becomes more mainstream than ever before. However, in the end, it’s all about the apps regardless of where the data, server or user is.

Applications are or need to be deployed in a more diverse landscape

Knowing how your applications work and how they are best deployed is therefore critically important. Many organizations see the importance of applications and therefore categorize them into tiers, often as follows:

  • Tier 1: business critical
  • Tier 2: high usage, secondary importance
  • Tier 3: small user base, non-critical

But what will you do when migrating to a new application delivery strategy?

  • Will you analyze, deploy and test applications from all tiers?
  • Are you sure a tier 3 application will not take down a tier 1 application?
  • How thoroughly can you test against the future platform?
  • How sure are you about choosing the right application delivery method?
  • How sure are you that applications which come into the production environment are accepted by the end-user and do not come back for repackaging?

Through an automated compatibility test, you can shorten the implementation process of a new platform up to 50% by simplifying key elements of application management:

  1. Application testing to discover issues;
  2. Application remediation and modeling to determine application fixes;
  3. Automation of application packaging for virtualization;
  4. Application management for ongoing application evolution.

The analysis shows (in a clear manner) which applications will work on the new platform, which will not, and which ones need simple remediation to be fixed either automatically or “hands-on”. This provides a kick-start to all deployment projects!

Furthermore, because it is an automated test you can:

  • Test all your applications;
  • Recognize application incompatibility issues upfront, not only in production;
  • Get in-depth application knowledge to choose the right delivery method from the beginning.

Just minutes to analyze an application

Some figures from experience when using Citrix® App-DNA™:

  • Time saved on identifying issues = 90%
  • Time saved on the project = 50%
  • Time saved on remediation = 50%
  • Time saved on support = 40%
